Jōvan Dansberry began his dance training at age 7. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, he trained in various styles and has worked with many dancers and choreographers around the country. In 2005, Jōvan joined the Radio Disney AM 1260 Street Team where he danced and choreographed shows across the St. Louis metropolitan area. In 2008, he appeared in the opening number of Rihanna’s “Disturbia” for the MTV Video Music Awards. In addition to Monat Dance, Jōvan also dances with BARE Dance Company under the direction of Mike Esperanza and performed one of Esperanza’s pieces, CLOSE(R), at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. in 2010. He has worked with choreographers Chad Michael Hall, Holly Johnston, Sophie Monat, Jason Myhre, Justin Giles, and many others.
